PECOS.

Founder & CEO

Meet Chuck Mooney III.

For more than seventeen years, Chuck has built his career around one question: how do small businesses actually get paid — and how do we make that easier? Pecos Payments is the answer he wrote down.

Chuck Mooney III, founder and CEO of Pecos Payments

Seventeen years in payments — and counting

Chuck has spent the last seventeen-plus years inside electronic payments — credit and debit card processing, ATMs, and point-of-sale systems — working with the operators who run real businesses on razor-thin margins and one-shot afternoons. That work is where Pecos Payments came from: the belief that payments shouldn't be a separate bill, a separate portal, or a separate problem.

Horned Frog for life

Chuck is a graduate of Texas Christian University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1990 and a Master of Liberal Arts in 1992. He was a four-year letterman on the TCU Horned Frogs football team from 1987 to 1990 — a decade of getting up early, showing up, and finishing the drill that still runs through how he builds Pecos.

Author, cameo, and a lightning strike

Off the field, Chuck is the author of The Recruiting Survival Guide and appeared in the Paramount Pictures film Necessary Roughness. He has also, for the record, been struck by lightning — a fact he mentions less often than his brothers Kevin and Matt would probably like.

When he's not working

You'll find him cheering for the Aledo Bearcats and the TCU Horned Frogs, escaping to Ocracoke Island, spinning vinyl, and going to concerts — Fleetwood Mac holding the all-time top slot.

"Small business owners don't need another login. They need one platform that runs the operation and lands the money in the same place."

— Chuck Mooney III, Founder & CEO
